ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

The Board of Trustees for the Arkansas School for the Blind and the Arkansas School for the Deaf met for their monthly meeting on March 16, 2010.

Present: Beth Gray, Chairperson; Andrew Tolbert, Vice Chairperson; Dr. Doug Watson, Secretary; Dr. Henrietta Williams, Board Member; Khayyam Eddings, Board Member; Jeanne Tribett, A.S.B. Parent Representative; Janice Vaughn, A.S.D. Parent Representative; Jim Hill, A.S.B. Superintendent; Mike Phillips, A.S.D. Interim Superintendent; Katie Becker, Amy Herbert, Interpreters; Members of the Deaf Community; Members of the Blind Community

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 4:59 p.m. The next board meeting was scheduled for April 20.

10-J-005 Motion to Approve Consent Items

Dr. Williams made a motion to approve the Consent Items and Mr. Tolbert seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

A.S.D. Parent Representative – Janice Vaughn

Mrs. Vaughn had nothing to report.

A.S.B. Parent Representative – Jeanne Tribett

Mrs. Tribett reported on the following activities at A.S.B.:

• PreK and Kindergarten are doing Parents with Jobs tomorrow. Parents of the students are invited to the class to tell the students about their jobs.

• March 18, Taste of A.S.B. Families are invited to taste some of the foods in the cafeteria and discuss the nutritional needs of the students.

• March 18, Talent Show at 6:00 p .m.

• Beeper Easter Egg Hunt on April 1.

• Secondary students will go to the State Capitol for a MLK Jr. King Celebration on April 2.

Mr. Hill introduced Alma Valley, who is the new assistant business manager and welcomed her on behalf of Mike Phillips, Jim Kernan and himself.

There being no further business of a Joint nature, the meeting moved to the Agenda for the Arkansas School for the Deaf.
