ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND

The Board of Trustees for the Arkansas School for the Deaf and the Arkansas School for the Blind met for their monthly meeting on April 20, 2010.

Present: Beth Gray, Chairperson (via telephone conference); Andrew Tolbert, Vice Chairperson (via telephone conference); Dr. Doug Watson, Secretary; Jeanne Tribett, A.S.B. Parent Representative; Janice Vaughn, A.S.D. Parent Representative; Jim Hill, A.S.B. Superintendent; Mike Phillips, A.S.D. Interim Superintendent; Katie Becker, Zania Musteen, Interpreters; Members of the Deaf Community; Members of the Blind Community

Absent: Dr. Henrietta Williams, Khayyam Eddings

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 5:11 p.m. The next board meeting was scheduled for May 20, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.

10-J-006 Motion to Approve Consent Items

Dr. Watson made a motion to approve the Consent Items and Mr. Tolbert seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Action Items

10-J-007 Motion to Approve

2010-2011 School Calendar

Mr. Tolbert said the calendar looked good and made a motion to approve. Dr. Watson seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.

Discussion Items

Jeanne Tribett – ASB Parent Representative

Mrs. Tribett reported on the upcoming events at ASB, which include:

Prom on April 29

Travelers Baseball Game for the lower grades on May 3, 2010

Spring Concert and Parent Appreciation Dinner on May 13

Athletic Banquet on May 17

6^th grade graduation on May 27

12^th grade graduation on May 28

Janice Vaughn – ASD Parent Representative

Mrs. Vaughn reported on upcoming events at ASD, which include:

Sports Banquet on April 29 at Breeding Cafeteria

Prom on May 13 in the ASD tornado shelter, from 6 p.m. through 12 a.m., with an early morning breakfast for the seniors and the juniors.

Senior Trip on May 14-16, going to Branson, MO

Graduation on May 20 at 6 p.m. in Parnell Hall

There being no further business of a Joint nature, the meeting moved to the Agenda for the Arkansas School for the Blind.
