OFFICIAL MINUTES FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING OF THE
ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED
The Board of Trustees for the Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired met for their monthly meeting on June 15, 2010.
Present: Beth Gray, Chairperson; Andrew Tolbert, Vice Chairperson; Dr. Doug Watson, Secretary; Khayyam Eddings, Board Member; Jeanne Tribett, ASBVI Parent Representative; Jim Hill, ASBVI Superintendent; Mike Phillips, ASD Superintendent; Katie Becker, Zania Musteen, Interpreters; Members of the Deaf Community; Members of the Blind Community
Absent: Dr. Henrietta Williams, Janice Vaughn
10-B-011 Motion to Approve Consent Items
Dr. Watson made a motion to accept the Consent Items and Mr. Tolbert seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Action Items
10-B-012 Motion to Approve Changes in ASBVI Handbook
Mr. Hill said that the changes in the handbook meet ADE requirements and address issues recommended by the monitors. Dr. Watson made a motion to accept the changes as written and Mr. Eddings seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Discussion Items
Accreditation Report
Mr. Hill previously mailed a copy of the ASBVI Accreditation Report to the board, which showed that the school has received program approval.
Superintendent’s Report
Mr. Hill said that Mrs. Berry’s daughter was guest speaker at ASBVI’s 6th grade graduation. First Lady Ginger Beebe was a guest at the 12th grade graduation and Representative Kathy Webb was guest speaker. Mr. Hill said both graduation ceremonies were very nice and thanked the board members who were able to attend.

There being no further business for the Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the meeting moved to the Agenda for the Arkansas School for the Deaf.
